NBL Launches Smart Drinking campaign focusing on consumption of illicit alcohol
Nile Breweries (NBL) has launched the annual SMART drinking campaign, Drink Easy Easy N’enya Lunaku, with a call to focus on illicit alcohol consumption.
This is because illicit consumption of alcohol constitutes 65% of all alcohol drinking in Uganda, according to the NBL Managing Director Adu Rando.
The Euro-monitor Illicit Alcohol Trade Report 2021 revealed that the illicit alcohol trade is a major problem in Uganda, with a high percentage of the population consuming alcohol that is not regulated or safe for consumption. This poses a serious threat to public health and safety, as these illicit drinks can be contaminated with harmful substances and chemicals.
NBL’s Smart Drinking campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of consuming illicit alcohol and encourage people to make smarter choices when it comes to drinking. By focusing on the issue of illicit alcohol consumption, NBL hopes to reduce the prevalence of these dangerous drinks in the market and promote responsible drinking habits among consumers.
Through this campaign, NBL is working with local authorities, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations to crack down on the production and distribution of illicit alcohol. By targeting the source of these products, NBL believes that they can make a significant impact on reducing the consumption of illicit alcohol in Uganda.

As a consumer, the Smart Drinking campaign launched by NBL will impact you by raising awareness about the dangers of consuming illicit alcohol. How will this affect the world?
The Smart Drinking campaign launched by NBL will have a positive impact on the world by setting a precedent for other companies and organizations to prioritize responsible drinking practices and combat the illicit alcohol trade. By taking a stand against the production and distribution of harmful drinks, NBL is contributing to a safer and healthier global community.
