Insights on Bobi Wine’s Tour: A Personal Observation by George Mubiru

GEORGE MUBIRU: My observation about Bobi Wine’s tour

Introduction

I have keenly observed Kyagulanyi’s rallies in western Uganda and physically attended those in Mayuge and Busia as a researcher and analyst. So far I have made the following observations.

Observations

Police and other security forces have exhibited high professionalism and ensured that these rallies are peaceful. Everyone expected their presence to come with brutalities, rogue behaviors, and teargas at every corner. The opposing camps would mostly complain about being denied entry to rally venues which is within the jurisdiction of the organizers and police to control. On May 23rd in Busia, police politely declined to stop Bobi Wine’s convoy at strategic accesses, including the key roundabout, known as Nabuyonga. The security officers neither provoked the agitated youth nor used vulgar language unlike during previous incidents. They also ensured the smooth flow of traffic even during the rallies, something unusual with the forces during public rallies especially those attracting big gatherings.

Another intriguing observation is that Bobi Wine has been giving speeches with an outstanding message of hope. He has been preaching messages of change and promising a better future for all Ugandans. His electrifying speeches have left many of his supporters inspired and motivated to fight for a better Uganda.

Impact on Me

As an individual, the observation of security forces exhibiting professionalism and rallies being peaceful brings a sense of relief and hope for a better political climate in Uganda. It also shows the possibility of peaceful political gatherings and discourse in the country.

Impact on the World

The peaceful rallies and the messages of hope from Bobi Wine have the potential to inspire other countries facing political unrest and instability. It sets an example of how political discourse can be conducted peacefully and democratically.

Conclusion

In conclusion, my observations of Bobi Wine’s tour have shown a positive trend towards peaceful political engagements in Uganda. The professionalism exhibited by security forces and the messages of hope from Bobi Wine have the potential to bring about positive change not only in Uganda but also serve as an example to the world.
