Kabale: UMEME Blames Constant Power Outages On Tree Cutting
The Electricity Power Distributors UMEME Uganda Ltd, Kabale Branch Officials have blamed constant power outages on Tree Cutting that results into breakage of transmission lines. This was revealed during a dialogue between UMEME Officials and Kigezi Action for Development – KAD, a group of Activists who had threatened to lead a “peaceful demonstration” in Kabale.
UMEME Uganda Ltd, Kabale Branch Officials have expressed concerns about the constant power outages in the region, attributing them to tree cutting activities. The officials revealed that the tree cutting often leads to the breakage of transmission lines, causing disruptions in the supply of electricity to the residents.
During a dialogue with Kigezi Action for Development (KAD), a group of activists who were planning a peaceful demonstration to address the issue, UMEME officials highlighted the importance of responsible tree cutting practices to prevent further damage to the transmission lines.
